Joe Loco & His Quintet
Joe Loco was an American Latin jazz and Latin pop pianist and arranger who scored a hit in 1952 with the tune "Tenderly."
He was well known for his Latin arrangements of pop standards, and performed them in a quintet setting in many jazz venues which did not typically showcase Latin music. In 2007, the Fonotron label released a compilation of these tunes entitled "Make Mine Mambo." It includes a delightful performance of "Stardust" with a Latin beat.
